Sarah started cheering in fifth grade at age eleven for her school and then joined her
first all star team, coached by Karen Snyder, at age twelve. She then cheered in
middle school, and progressing to make the varsity squad her freshmen year. Her
junior year she cheered on the varsity squad at Pope John Paul II High School, and
was elected captain her senior year. Sarah has also cheered at Premier TN Cats of
Cool Springs for the past four years on level four and five teams. The past two years
her senior coed limited level five team has competed at the Cheerleading and Dance
Worlds and received a top ten placement (8th place) in 2007. She now attends
Belmont University and is majoring in Political Science in order to prepare herself for
law school. This will be Sarah’s first year coaching at Prime Tyme.

All-Star Coach, Tumbling Instructor, Choreographer

BJ has been dancing for 18 years with his strong areas being hip hop and jazz. BJ has danced successfully on the national level and also some small stage productions. BJ was in competitive gymnastics for eight years and in tumbling for five years. BJ started cheering his sophomore year of high school at Ashbrook High School and cheered there for three years. His senior year he led his squad, who had never competed before, to four competitions and left each competition with a first place trophy! He has been doing choreography for middle school, high school, college, and all star dance teams and cheer squads for 10 years. In March of 2005 BJ was given the opportunity to open his own all star gym, Gaston Elite All Stars.

Darius is from Murfreesboro, TN where he was an all state football player and wrestler.  He began his cheerleading career at Middle Tennessee State University. He also cheered on the nationally ranked Austin Peay State University team.  Darius graduated with a degree in elementary education from MTSU in 1998. After graduation Darius was appointed the head cheerleading coach at Austin Peay State University and brought APSU to a fourth place finish at NCA Nationals. He started his coaching career at United Cheerleading in Antioch, TN. He was a three year veteran staff member for Universal Cheerleading Associates where he served as a head instructor. His coaching career has taken him through Murfreesboro, Hermitage, and now to Hendersonville. He has been a national judge for Athletic Championships, CheerNation, and Cheersport over the past nine years.  Darius is USASF and AACCA safety certified and has coached for 11 years.  He is currently in his third year at Prime Tyme Athletics. Darius is an 8th grade school teacher at Hawkins Middle School. He has been a coach in their cheer program for the past four years.


Pro Shop Owner, Gym Manager, All-Star Coach, Choreographer

Katie started cheering at Knox Doss Middle School and also cheered four years at Beech High School. During this time, she won two national individual competitor titles. Katie continued her cheerleading career throughout college at Middle Tennessee State University. She graduated with a degree in criminal justice in 1999. Katie started her coaching career at All American Cheerleading in Murfreesboro, TN. She was a four year veteran staff member for Universal Cheerleading Associates where she served as a head instructor. Her coaching career has taken her through Franklin, Hermitage, and back to Hendersonville. She has been a national judge for Athletic Championships, CheerNation, and Cheersport over the past nine years.  Katie is USASF and AACCA safety certified and has coached for 12 years.  She is currently in her third year at Prime Tyme Athletics and resides at the Gym Manager and Pro Shop Owner. Katie has been married to Darius for seven years, and they just recently welcomed their first daughter, Olivia Grace.


All-Star Coach, Tumbling Instructor

Charles Lyons, ’Chico’ was a football player in high school and decided his junior year
to also try cheerleading. He cheered for Roswell High School in Roswell ,GA where
he graduated. His senior year he cheered for Pro Cheer Allstars of Marietta,
GA. After high school he joined the United States Army where he was stationed at
Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. Chico coached cheer tumble in Colorado at
Artsports which is primarily a gym for trampoline gymnastics. He then moved back to
Georgia and started as an instructor/coach at World of Kids. He then moved on from
there to be part of The Stingray Allstars which is where he was apart of their 348 total
national championships. Charles is father of three who he loves dearly, Kaila 8,
Charles 6, and Jayden 1.

Chad started cheering for Barren County High School his junior year and cheered there for two years. While cheering for Barren County he received two national titles. Chad continued his cheerleading career at Western Kentucky University for two years. He started his coaching career at Extreme Gymnastics in Glasgow, KY where he instructed for five years. Chad was able to be one of the first to start a senior level all star team to compete nationally from Extreme Gymnastics. Chad is USASF and AACCA certified and has coached for six years. Chad is a member of Prime Tyme Athletics’ Open team and is currently in his first year employed at Prime Tyme Athletics. He is also the Marketing Manager of Prime Tyme Athletics. Chad is midway through his Advertising major & Religious Studies minor at Western Kentucky.


Fill-In Instructor


Gym Owner, All-Star Coach, Choreographer

Sarah Smith is the owner of Prime Tyme Athletics.  She is from Franklin, TN where she went to school and cheered for Battle Ground Academy. She spent most of her time cheering for the nationally ranked United Gators all star team.  Sarah graduated from David Lipscomb in 2006 with a B.S. in marketing.  Sarah has a strong background in dance and cheerleading. She has won more than 2 dozen national titles with her choreography over the past seven years. Sarah is USASF and AACCA safety certified and has coached for eight years. She is currently in her fourth year at Prime Tyme Athletics.


All-Star Coach, Choreographer

Karen started cheering in Goodlettsville, TN at her middle school and at Hunters Lane High School.  She is a graduate from Western Kentucky University with a degree in elementary education.  Karen began coaching at Cordell Dance Studio were she taught dance and tumbling.  Her all star career took off at United in Madison, TN.  In the past five years she has won an amazing 22 National Titles! Her most prestigious title was in 2005 at the Cheersport Nationals in the youth advance division.  Karen is USASF certified and has been coaching for 22 years.  She is currently a kindergarten teacher at Madison Creek Elementary.  She and her husband Danny have three children who are all actively involved in community sports.


All-Star Coach, Tumbling Instructor

Jonathan started his cheerleading career at McGavock High School on their coed competition team. Jon also cheered for the Tennessee Cheerleading Company all-stars for two years and United Cheerleading Gators for two years. He has been coaching tumbling and all stars for four years, and is currently in his third year at Prime Tyme Athletics. As a coach and competitor all together, Jon has 34 national titles. He also has competed as one of the few standing double fulls. Jon is USASF and AACCA safety certified and has coached for seven years. He is a member of Prime Tyme Athletics’ Open team and is in his first year on Ace of Alabama’s Open team. Jonathan is currently a student at Volunteer State Community College and a student athlete in soccer. He is studying physical therapy and will graduate this spring with an associates degree and transfer to Trevecca Nazarene University to play soccer.
